 Attorney Fights for Students' Rights

A Lubbock attorney has been dubbed Texas Tech's official lawyer.

Board-certified attorney Stephen Hamilton has begun his partnership with

Campus Live, a one-stop source for all things Texas Tech and Lubbock, according

to their website.

Hamilton, a criminal defense attorney in Lubbock, has started appearing on

Campus Live’s shows and conducts his own segments where he talks about what

to do in certain criminal situations. The specific segment he will be doing is titled

“Know Your Rights."

“Lubbock is my home, and I'm invested in the community, in Texas Tech, and in

bringing awareness to how we can help," Hamilton said,“I want everyone to know

their rights so they can better prepare for any legal situation.

Hamilton began his own Law Firm in 2013 with his partner Shane Byrd. The firm

has seven locations across Texas and is looking to grow even more. Hamilton

claimed that all the attorneys who work at the firm are great and always looking to

help people.

“We want to provide top-notch white-glove service to clients,” Hamilton said.

that the client knows win, lose, or draw, I hired the right people.

Another way Hamilton has tried to provide for Texas Tech and the Lubbock

community is by writing books. He has three that are all about what to do if you

find yourself in a criminal situation and knowing your rights. One of them is

specifically marketed towards Texas Tech students.

“My philosophy was ‘what would I want to know if I got in trouble,’” Hamilton

said.“I’d really want to know what’s going on, and what I’m looking at.

The book is titled “What Every Texas Tech Student Should Know if They Get in

Trouble with the Law.” Per the book, it includes different types of criminal charges

and what to do about them.
